Hi nahsah,

yes the logfile is hardly helpful on that topic Can you post the results of fbset -i?

Have you compiled disko with DirectFB support or with the fbdev backend?

Maybe you can try the attached diskorc? This is set up for the fbdev backend.

kind regards
Stefan

Stefan

Thanks for your hints. It seems like you're working allday and allnight on your project .

Your config file seems to be buggy. There is a xml parser exception when I start tutorial 01:

[root@/usr/bin/01]#./01 --disko:config=diskorc-vesafb.xml
set configfile: diskorc-vesafb.xml
I/O warning : failed to load external entity "diskorc-vesafb.xml"
RcParser exception: Could not parse file:diskorc-vesafb.xml

I can't find out what the problem with this config file is. I tried to fix the config file myself but I didn't get it. I set all path/file options (prefix, sysconfig, data) to correct values (./) but it doesn't work.
I also removed the "inputmode" parameter from the config file which was not present in the original file.
Nothing worked.

What's wrong with your config file?

About fbset:
fbset -i
didn't show any output. But only `fbset` without parameter prints

[root@/usr/bin/01]#fbset

mode "800x480-50"
# D: 23.896 MHz, H: 25.750 kHz, V: 50.000 Hz
geometry 800 480 800 480 16
timings 41848 40 40 29 3 48 3
accel false
rgba 5/11,6/5,5/0,0/0
endmode

I hope this will give you a hint to find the correct configuration.

I built disko with

scons prefix=/home/user/disko/build debug=true messages=true cross=true graphics=fbdev

Thanks again for your help and the superfast answers in the forum. That's really great!

Nahsah

Hi nahsah,

yes I'd like you to suceed with your tests . I have attached a slightly different diskorc-vesafb. I only changed the data path which would lead you to another error. From my point of view the file seems to be correct in any other aspect.

Maybe your error results in a problem in opening a file. You would get some parse errors from the xml parser if the file is not correct xml, as well as an error from our config parser if any settig is contradictory.

Maybe you could post your logfile along with the whole stdout/stderr output of your test program, that will give us a clue, hopefully.

kind regards
Stefan

Hi Stefan

Thanks for your help.
I found the solution for the config file problem. It was just a typo...
I used diskorc-vesafb.xml instead of your (underline) diskorc_vesafb.xml.
Sorry, this was my fault!

Now the framebuffer seems to work with your config file.
At least I get a black screen when I run tutorials 01

As you can imagine, there is another problem: Loading the default theme.
I copied the /themes/default files from firststeps/01 to my nfs where the tutorial application is located (usr/bin/01).
Unfortunately disko can't find the default theme.
Here's the important part of the logfile:

21:54:09:56 1073883056 Core: starting theme manager [src/mmscore/mmsinit.cpp:200]
21:54:09:65 1073883056 Core: Abort due to: could not load theme file .//themes/default/theme.xml [src/mmscore/mmsinit.cpp:299]

The two slashes in the search path are confusing me. Is there a path bug in the theme manager or is this just a logging 'problem'?

It seems like the font 'DejaVuSansMono.ttf' can be found in ./themes/default (logfile line 108). So the themes files seem to be at the right place.

Please find attached the logfile and (in a second post) the console output.
